The Wheels on the Bus

Experiences don't have to be expensive.

As a single mother and beleaguered public school teacher, Autumn scrimped and saved to fulfill her dream of taking her seven year old son Fain on a road trip to see the United States, but her plans were upended when she took a new job and her savings were wiped out during the transition.

Seven years later, Autumn is married with a business of her own. She’s got more freedom, and a whole new set of challenges. The family’s car has kicked the bucket, and their resources are being sunk into a ramshackle sailboat the family has decided to make their new home.

After two years of living a scrappy existence on the old boat, Autumn decides to take one last swing at her dream of a mother and son journey across the country the cheapest way she knows how: by bus.

This is like David Lynch taking Twin Peaks incorporating it into Mike Meyer’s Austin Powers giving birth to absolute entertainment. Her imagery and descriptive sentences place you in New York or in Paris. I think I can smell La Seine! The secondary characters are also most eccentric and winsome. If you want two or three hours of unmitigated escapist enjoyment this book is for you. Added bonus: there are more to come. YAY!

N. Patterson

This book is everything the blurb promises—a campy, cloak-and-dagger story in which the crack team of Perilous and Sparks combat the evil Omega Foundation and locate a dangerous weapon that could destroy the planet. The author has created captivating characters—including two amazingly fierce, fearless, and stylish female secret agents.

E. Jacobson
It’s got sassy strong female leads, super spys with gadgets, high fashion, action, and murder. What more could you ask for? All the fun quirky characters were a blast to read about. Sparks and Bette are definitely my two personal favourites of them all. A.Ware’s descriptions wove a detailed scene for her thrilling tale to take place. It’s was truly wonderful how easily I could close my eyes and be in Paris whizzing around on a Vespa.

This was an absolute delight! Something of a James Bond with a twist, this story had everything I could have hoped for: action, fast cars, explosives, art, evening gowns with pockets. Les Stone Cold Killers offers strong and intelligent characters and a writing style that doesn’t talk down to its readers (as novels of the young adult genre are often want to do).

J. Kalogridis

Imagine the TV show The Americans, but campy, set in the 60s, with gender-bending protagonists sleuthing the streets of New York and Paris. It’s intrigue, it’s resourceful soubrettes, it’s careening through the French countryside in an Aston Martin and spy gadgets that freeze or explode to keep you guessing. This book is flying first class when you thought you’d be in coach. It’s a delight. Looking forward to book number two!

C. Kaufman

This novel turns the typical spy novel trope right on its head. The adventure is set in the 60’s with two amazing female teen spies using their intelligence and training to solve a mystery through the streets of Paris. Its, campy, fun and full of cool gadgets and lots of action.
I would recommend this for teens and adults. I really can’t wait for the next book in the series.

V. Mitchell

I may be “grown up” already but this book made me rethink my life decisions. Why can’t I be a teenage spy that travels the world and thwarts evil-doers by using my wiley moves or my cunning mind? In truth though, this adventure kept me on the edge of my seat! I realize it is the beginning of a series, but I hate when I get to the end of a book and I wish it would just keep going on and on. (Or, maybe that’s a love-thing.)
